Akil's birthday was on August 9th and from then on, I have been wanting to write a post on it. I put little one to sleep and made up my mind to write it today. Before every birthday, there is a discussion in most of the homes on where, how and why to celebrate. With the usual discussions, we decided to do it at home this year as well. With Arnav, I was not ready to step out as feeding him takes utmost priority. Akil was eagerly waiting for his birthday as he had attended few recently. We neither wanted to disappoint him. Huge lot of changes in Akil over the past one year but one thing that was constant is his craze for animals. This made it very easy for us to choose a theme. L loves shopping online and we decided to purchase everything online this time. Thanks to the competition across online shopping portals. Getting such great stuff's from shops in Coimbatore is not easy. Everything had animals starting from party caps, party plates, paper cups, dangles, decorations, balloons and finally the cake. We invited neighbor friends who play with Akil everyday. We could have taken much better pictures which I missed.
For few decorations, I did some crafty work when time permitted.
This was at the entrance of home. I had seen such stuff in some of my friend's birthday parties with light colors. To give a wild look, chose orange and black.
Akil loved this the most. Whenever he sees too much of animals, he gets excited. And when we gave the explanation that animals are coming in train to wish him 'happy birthday', he was overjoyed.
The center happy birthday banner had this pattern and I painted it the same way for the name "AKIL". Readability was little difficult. I should have given little more space between the letters.
Took the photos of Akil with animals toys and fixed them in this pattern. Animal stickers around & at the center of the pics gave me "what more we need" feeling :)
Finally the cake. We searched in the net to get a jungle themed one and managed to find a shop in Coimbatore. Cost was whopping high that we'll think twice to get into the shop again.
Akil enjoyed every bit of it and the best part was his friends coming home and wishing him with wonderful gifts. He kept talking about it for some days even after the party. But I wonder if it will be possible to do such things every year for 2 kids. Celebrating birthday party these days has become an added responsibility for the parents. We should try to keep it to the simplest possible and concentrate only on what kids enjoy!
That's pretty cool! Jungle theme can be done at home as well. You are such a perfect host. But will really follow some of your ideas for my friend's birthday party. Already thought of hiring one of the amazing event space Atlanta for the dinner. Mexican and continental food will be okay for all. Indoor games and activities are on hunt.
