Fussy Eaters!

Akil has become too fussy & choosy in eating. Until he turned 18 months, he was a chweet baby who would eat anything and everything I give - starting from ragi, apple, orange, banana, carrot, leafy vegetables etc and etc. Though not too chubby, he was much healthier at that age. Now, feeding all these items seems to be like a dream for me. I take about an hour just to feed lunch. It's almost like feeding him rice by rice. I have tried variety of recipes starting from oat meal to pazta. Nothing of these seems to fantasize him. But chocolates, ice creams and sweets are his favorites. If sugar is there, then he is better & happier - dosa with milk & sugar, chapathi with jam! When nothing works in a day, I console myself in giving such items.

Like me, I have heard many moms’ (almost all the moms') lamenting over this eating habit in children. But when I speak to pediatricians, they say that it’s very normal for a toddler to be a fuzzy eater. Recently, when I met my pediatrician, all she told me was I have made mealtime to be very unpleasant for Akil. I have forced him to eat a lot that has made him hate food. If they are not hungry, it’s even okay to skip a meal and give some snaky items which are not deep fried or even just milk. When appetite is more, children tend to eat more.

Whatever said and heard, when a child at this age eats very well, it brings lot of pride and pleasure to mom's!
