Trip to Mysore Zoo!

In 2014 summer holidays, we never planned any trip to take kids out. On the verge on summer vacation, started hunting for places to take them. Akil had only one forced option - a forest. He wanted to see a cheetah hunting a deer. Crazy little Akil! All these are inspired from Animal planet and National geographic channels. He is getting too much into the details of it. A big "NO" from me to view those channels for his age. Now, I stopped putting those channels for him. It took some time for me to explain him the danger of viewing the hunting scene alive and told him about all the animals in zoo. And then, he was conviced in visiting a zoo. We didn't have much time and L was completely busy with work. So, planned a day trip to Mysore zoo with kids and parents. Travel was for around 4 hours and it was pretty hectic. Hectic for parents as well. :( I then realised that it was one of the bad plannings!

When I told my friends that we are travelling to Mysore for zoo, they gave a weird look. Are you travelling so long just for the sake of zoo? Only that interests the little one and nothing else would be my answer. We started at 7 AM in the morning. Route is Coimbatore - Sathy- Chamarajanagar- Mysore. We had breakfast at Sathyamangalam and stopped at Bannari Amman Temple. This temple is very popular in this area. Here, people do Poo Midhithal (walking on fire) if their wish is fulfilled.

And then, we went straight to the zoo. Akil's excitement was endless. We took the tram to go around the zoo. Walking all over is very difficult with kids. Some of the walkers in the zoo stopped the tram in between and asked if they can get in. But the driver didn't allow them. The tram stops at fixed places for fixed time. We can get down and watch the animals. As it prolonged, all the members in the tram were exhausted and no one got down after a while. Only two persons to get down at all the stops and utilize the full time was myself and Akil. He never got tired until the end. We were able to get site of all the animals in the zoo. Akil's was fascinated by white peacock, white tigers whose skin was like zebra's, patterned zebra's, tall giraffe's, sleeping crocodile's, swiming snake's, talking birds, cheetah's, rhino's, elephant's and the list goes on. Even Arnav enjoyed seeing all the animals. But his craze as of now is for the balls and luckily not animals. When we came out of the zoo, there was a huge crowd waiting in line to buy tickets. Luckily, we went early. One of the trepassers mentioned that it's advisable to buy tickets in net if we are planning to visit on weekends.

@ JP Fortune Palace
After the zoo, we had our lunch at JP Fortune Palace. Food taste, ambience was good and after the hectic zoo visit, Akil had a good meal. It is worth the penny spent.

We had some time left and we visited the palace and brindhavan gardens. Akil didn't enjoy the palace but played for a while in the park. He went for a horse ride at the palace. It was hot day and even Arnav was naggy at the palace. So, we didn't spend much time here. We started off late and reached at the midnight.
