Summer Vacation: Story Telling Competition
 |
Telling the Story |
At Fun Republic Mall,
they had organized few events as part of "Summer Fest"
celebration. One of the event was story telling competition for kids of age 3 to 9 years. Akil participated in the event and won 3rd prize. :) He told
his favorite story - "The Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf".
Akil was really bold and told the story well. In his age group, he was the best
and I am definitely a proud mommy :). They announced the 3rd prize first and
Akil mistook that he has won the first prize. Innocent chap!!! I never
revealed the truth. :) As a prize, they had given a book from the collection of
Barbie's magical stories. This story is about Barbie and her friends visiting
animals in the zoo and feeding baby animals. Akil being animal lover is crazy about
this book and sees to that the book is in his eye sight all the time. Now, my
job is to read the story to him. I have already read it multiple times to him
and I'm sure I'm going to read it for many more times.

I always had the feeling that he has not received the appreciations that he
deserves. His class teacher often used to tell that he was one of the eligible
candidate to win the prize for various things conducted at school. But
something or the other must have stopped him from achieving it. Luckily this
story telling competition was not one such one. This event made Akil very happy
and I could see lot of confidence in him.

Next to story telling was solo dance competition. Many sweet girls in 3 to 4 years of age
were very cute at their dance. I was mesmerized seeing few dances by those
innocent tiny angels. As we were watching the dance, Akil gave a starring look
at me and said, "Amma, I'm not good at dancing. Don't ask me to
dance.". I only laughed when he said that. Akil was just not
interested even to see the dance... from where can we expect him to dance. Both
the events were organized very well for the charming and admiring darlings.
