Arnav's 1st Head Shaving (Mottai) Function
Arnav's head shaving and ear piercing ceremony was on 15th Nov. I haven't written much about our 2nd little treasure Arnav. He keeps smiling at anyone who looks at home. That has now become his trademark. Head shaving function usually happens during the 11th Tamil month. But 11th month for Arnav was not an auspicious one and so, we were forced to advance this by 2 months. It happened at 9th month for Arnav.
Keeping Arnav's health in mind, we had the function as low profile. We had L's parents, my parents and L's sister along with us for the function. As per tradition, my parents are supposed to buy dresses for all of us and my mom wanted to see her grand children in dhotis. :D We purchased same colour dhoti and shirt for both of them. This was a great idea and everyone loved to see the cuties.
Interestingly, after seeing the dhoti pic of Akil, L's friend has written a tamil poem. Poem is not about Akil but about his dress & locality... Poem link is here
Unlike Akil, Arnav kept crying through-out the function. Crying went to the peak while ear-piercing. This made me wonder if such a function is really required for babies. But it's part of tradition and we blindly followed it. Even if I say 'No' to it, elders in family are not going to accept. Some say that there is a scientific reason attached to it. But with my google research, there is nothing so. At least for my grandchildren, I should raise my voice and say a big "NO" to this function... LOL...
