Ponnar Shankar -- Not worth watching

After a long time, got a chance to watch a tamil movie "Ponnar shankar". I had read a lot about the movie even before it was released and it was written that the story line is based on the novel written by Kalaignar which potrays the life history of Ponnar and Shankar who belong to the caste "Kongu Vellalar Govundar". This being my caste, I was so fascinated and as this is a historic movie, I was eagerly waiting for the release date.

This movie was not worth watching and it never kept to my expectation. Other than the govundar name and few place names surrounding my village in the movie, nothing else was there that could relate with the caste and place. At least the wedding arrangements and the baby shower function should have been done per the rituals. The story line is nothing great and placement of roles of artists were poor. Only thing that I liked in the movie were the costumes. If they had opted for some good director for this story line, it could have come out in a better way. I realised later that as the story was not a real one, I shouldn't have expected so much.
